Course Objective
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
- Plan, prepare and
design all the basic elements of an Access database
- Make use of the
wizards to design objects in the database easily and quickly
- Create
tables, indexes, and relationships and maintain referential integrity
of the data
- Create multi-table queries, select queries, action queries,
and parameter queries
- Import and export data from other sources
- Create forms with sub-forms
for data entry of related tables
- Customise forms easily, including
adding a command button
- Create meaningful reports, including total
reports and mailing labels
- Create a control form with attached push-button
macros
Delegate Profile
This course has been designed for those who wish to take
on the responsibility for designing their own database
systems, for
use by themselves or
other colleagues.
Pre-Requisites
Attendees should have a working knowledge of the Windows
operating system, and
experience of
using a Windows
word
processor, and/or a Windows spreadsheet application.
Structure
Each delegate has the exclusive use of a PC and
training includes extensive hands-on activity.

How to create Access objects, i.e. tables, queries, forms and reports
quickly and easily, with the aid of Access wizards
How to switch between design view and data views to check the design
of each object
Entering data and navigating between records
Retrieving record and field selections and reporting Database design
Defining
the purpose of the database
Dividing and categorising the data
Defining relationships and referential integrity
Producing the database schema
Creating a new database
Tables
Creating a table from scratch
Importing data from other sources
Using default values and validation rules
Creating and changing primary key fields
